info
We purchased our orchard in Cornwall, Vermont in October 2005, after it lay untended for a number of years. This lent itself to a faster transition to organic. Through pruning, mowing and much TLC, we have brought the orchard back to life and our NOFA certification was given in June 2007. We later added a nearby orchard to increase our varieties and now manage about 45 acres under trees.
Currently we grow several varieties including McIntosh, Empire, Cortland, Macoun, Gala, Northern Spy, Honey Crisp, Jonagold, Red Free, Williams Pride, Liberty, Red Delicious, Prima, Keepsake and several no name hybrid varieties that help form the 'secret recipe' of our renowned organic cider.
In addition to apples we have several varieties of pears and
nearly an acre of high bush blueberries.
We are committed to bringing quality organic fruit and fruit products. We grow and pack all our own apples, press our own cider, and ferment our own vinegar. Kent Ridge Orchards was started by Gregor and Bronwen Kent of Cornwall, Vermont in 2005 and remains a family owned and managed business. While first and foremost Kent Ridge Orchards supports organic farming, we also believe it makes sense to consume locally grown products if available and that quality comes before quantity.
Our apple cider is seasonally available at our ‘honesty system’ farm stand on Rte 125 in Cornwall, Vermont and through many co-ops and health food stores in the region. If you don’t find it, send us an email or ask the produce manager to call us!
